OWNER / INSTRUCTOR
In May 2014, I founded Leatherneck Shooters, LLC, which began as a dream of having my own business teaching firearms and owning a shooting range. Now that dream is a reality.
My background serves me well and more than qualifies me to lead the classes and training at Leatherneck Shooters. I served in the United States Marine Corps from October 1983 to November 1988. Assignments included Marine Air Group – 39, HMA – 369, Marine Corps Air Station Camp Pendleton, CA and Marine Wing Support Squadron – 474, Naval Base, Philadelphia, PA. Additionally I served on the protection detail for the Commanding Officer of Marine Corps Air Stations, Camp Pendleton. I was honorably discharged.
I volunteered as a Hunters Safety Education Instructor for the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission, Edenton, NC from September 2001 to December 2013. Instructors covered firearms safety, hunting safety, specialty hunting, tree stand safety, hunter responsibility and personal preparedness.
I have also served as a Master Trooper on the North Carolina State Highway Patrol from November 1988 to June 2004 and retired – working drug interdiction on I-95 for 8.5 years. I also served briefly on the Governors Security Detail after September 11, 2001. I am proud to have assisted in the writing and development of the North Carolina Highway Patrol’s Aquatic Rescue Curriculum, as well as serving as their primary instructor.
From June 2004 to June 2016, I was employed by Blackwater as a security contractor, deploying to, Pakistan, Iraq and Afghanistan conducting High Threat Diplomatic security missions for government agencies. Some of the duties included providing close protection security during United States Congressional Delegation and Distinguished Visitor visits to the areas.
My current certifications include: NRA Pistol Instructor, NRA Range Safety Officer, and Missouri Conceal Carry Instructor.
